PATER MAGNOLIA

My parents have a rather large magnolia tree
at the end of their driveway. When it's in
full bloom it's quite spectacular.

My dad loved this tree and the fact that it
was so substantial.

Dad loved flowers. He wasn't really a planned
garden kind of guy, he loved to have buckets
of stuff here and patches of stuff there.

The yard always looked nice and he worked his
tail off to get grass to grow. My whole life, grass
was a challenge for him, a challenge that he rose
to with gusto!

The pine trees are protection against the wind.
It comes whipping up the ramp from the plantation
highway and without those trees, my parent's
would have no yard!

But they also protect the magnolia and it has
been able to thrive because of them.

Beautiful tree.
Under the canopy.

Blossoms are lovely, inside and out.
As long as it's there, I'll think of it as Dad's tree.

SAND (LOTS)

P A Landers. It's on the "new" Route 44, which
we drive to get home. I took a couple of quick
shots out the window as we drove by. We've
always thought all that equipment looks cool,
especially against the blue sky.

Blue sky and tan sand. One of my favorite
color combinations.

Land they haven't torn up to organize into
big piles of different sized rock.....yet.

ROCK THE PLAZA @ PATRIOT PLACE

Seventh Room had a great gig at Patriot Place,
an enormous shopping and dining extravaganza
at Gillette Stadium. An outdoor, free, all-ages
show, it was fantastic! The weather, as you
can see, was spectacular!

This is the stage set up in front of
THE HALL, a Patriots Hall of Fame.

The boys during sound check. The sound system
was out of this world!

The boys ROCKING!!!!

This show was the first outing for me with my
new camera. I took 400 pictures, that's why
there are only a few here. I love the camera and
can't wait to use it again!

Seventh Room has a CD Release Party coming
up on May 15th at Copperfield's in the Fenway.
You can be sure you'll see me right up front,
shooting away!

IVY'S DAY

Thursday, April 23rd, was Bring your Daughters
and Sons to Work Day. I have a second cousin
once removed who is 11 years old and a budding
fashion/costume designer who came to work
with me to check it out.

Down in the village for morning meeting,
introduced to the village people and getting the
lay of the land.

Beginning her project, to completely hand sew
a woman's coif. The coif is a head garment to
keep a woman's hair covered for modesty.

Although she doesn't usually do much hand
sewing, she picked up the techniques quickly.
Love those young minds/hands, like sponges
they are!

A sewing bee with Auntie Betty, who comes over
to volunteer in the colonial wardrobe with us.

Gangsta girls on our way out to lunch.
Very impressed with her all-access-pass! We
took the secret pathway down to the village.
Ivy took her coif home to continue to work on
it and when it's finished I'll post pictures. We're
already making plans to have her come back
again over the summer for another volunteer
day. Looking forward to it!

PRACTICE SPACE

Seventh Room's practice space is located in an
old factory in Whitman. There are some
interesting building details.

A board covering some opening in the wall of the
actual studio space.

Another board on the wall, remins me of a Rothko painting.
Trash in the corner.

Broken mirror

Common area outside studio. Looks comfy, don't it?

Cool old door.

Exposed pipes, all over the place.

Graffiti, no band place would be complete without it!
NO FUCKING AROUND HERE

Exit.

The Loft. I think they must have had parties there at one time.
Peeling paint, another old building feature.

More exposed pipes.
An autographed electrical outlet.

Dusty footprints on frosted glass.

Heavy door hardware.

Axis of ROCK!!!!

MARTHA'S VINEYARD

We went, we saw, we had a swell time!
On the boat over to the island.

The bay in Vineyard Haven where the boat
comes in.

This is the lovely view from our room....the
bathroom! Great little Inn, though.

Ocean Park, across from the beach, in Oak Bluffs.

On our rented scooter, doing an "eyeball-flattening
25 m.p.h."

Fun and games...

We are huge fans of the movie JAWS, so there
were a lot of references. "Amity, as you know,
means......"

A day of shopping, and we found just the most
ridiculous, and somewhat obscene, souveniers!

Waiting for the bus after shopping.

I went for a lovely morning walk on the beach.

Walking to catch the bus back to Vineyard
Haven.
Sculpture in somebody's lawn along the way.
On the boat back over, making plans for the
next trip!
